As a Sr. Network Engineer, the beneficiary will perform the following job duties:

Network Architecture Design and Implementation – 25% of the work

Design and deploy scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise network solutions including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud connectivity.
Implement and maintain high-availability architecture using protocols such as HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP.
Lead infrastructure projects including new data center deployments, campus LAN redesign, and hybrid cloud integration (AWS, Azure).
Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers to support network initiatives.
Develop automation scripts for network provisioning and configuration using Ansible and Python.

Technology/Skillset Used: Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Juniper, Fortinet, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, Ansible, Python, AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute.

Proactively monitor network health and address latency, jitter, and packet loss issues using real-time monitoring tools.
Utilize NetFlow, sFlow, and deep packet inspection for in-depth traffic analysis and capacity planning.
Implement QoS policies to prioritize traffic for business-critical applications such as VoIP and video conferencing.
Maintain and optimize SD-WAN environments for multi-branch operations.
Perform firmware upgrades and maintenance activities with zero or minimal downtime.

Technology/Skillset Used: SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, PRTG, NetBrain, SD-WAN, IP SLA, SNMPv3, VoIP QoS, CBWFQ, LLQ.

Harden network infrastructure by applying access control lists, port security, and dynamic ARP inspection.
Deploy and manage VPNs (site-to-site and remote access) using IPsec and SSL protocols.
Enforce NAC policies and integrate with RADIUS and TACACS+ for authentication and accounting.
Perform regular audits and vulnerability scans to ensure compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS benchmarks.
Collaborate with SOC for threat detection and response using SIEM tools.

Technology/Skillset Used: Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, ISE, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, Nessus, Splunk, IPsec, SSL VPN, SIEM.

Document network topologies, IP addressing schemes, and equipment configurations using industry-standard diagrams.
Ensure all configuration changes follow change control procedures and are backed by risk assessments and rollback plans.
Maintain an up-to-date network asset inventory and configuration backup repository.
Draft root cause analysis reports for major incidents and deliver knowledge transfer sessions.
Collaborate with technical writers to maintain operational documentation and runbooks.

Technology/Skillset Used: Microsoft Visio, Confluence, Git, ServiceNow, SolarWinds NCM, SharePoint.

Provide technical direction and mentorship to network support and operations staff.
Conduct code reviews and configuration audits to ensure adherence to standards.
Drive operational excellence through team-building, documentation, and process improvements.
Lead incident response efforts and conduct blameless post-mortems for service outages.

Engage with hardware and service vendors for RMA processing, escalations, and solution design validation.
Review contracts and licensing agreements for networking tools and subscriptions.
Coordinate with external ISPs and cloud service providers to resolve connectivity issues and provision new links.

Research emerging technologies like SASE, ZTNA, and network virtualization for strategic implementation.
Develop proof-of-concept projects to evaluate new hardware or protocols before production rollout.
